The Claxton Capsizers take the water once more
A very sunny Sunday on 27th May saw the Claxton Capsizers (named so after the early dip in the water the team took last year) take to the waters of Oulton Broad to participate in the East Anglian Dragon Boat Festival, as has become tradition over the last few years. 20 teams competed this year, in what turned out to be Claxton’s most successful year to date.
The team improved throughout the day – they had shaved 3 seconds off their time by heat 3. Alas, even with much faster race times than 2011 and with ever increasing speed through the heats, the Capsizers narrowly missed out on making it to the semi-finals. Overall, the Claxton Capsizers finished mid-table in position 10. That’s better than ever before – give it a few more years and Claxton be lifting the trophy.
Despite not being crowned champions, a fantastic day was had by all. Thank you for all of the team members who took part, and all of the supporters for coming to cheer from the banks of the broad.
See you next year – to win this time!
