North Sea rigless tubing recovery

The Problem
A client needed to recover 5000 meters of tubing from a total of five wells. They chose Claxton to provide skilled service technicians and a bespoke recovery system – our expertise saved them significant amounts of time and money.

The Solution:
• We designed a recovery system to interface to the client’s platform and Tubing was pulled in lengths of 10-12 meters.
• A crew of 12 Claxton Service Technicians worked on a 24 hour basis for the rigless recovery of 3.1/2” and 4.1/2” Tubing from 5 wells.
• A length of 1000m of Tubing was recovered from each well, with a recovery time of approx 3 days per well – with an average string weight 60,000lbs.

The Results
The client was able to see clear benefits of the solution provided due to the cost savings and subsequently instructed Claxton to evaluate methods for other platforms.

Cost savings per well were estimated at £300,000 through the tailored rigless solution provided.
