Here you’ll find a small selection of our talented and fast-growing team – a team of over 100 which ranges from fresh-thinking newcomers, to expert industry veterans with, collectively, over 800 years of oilfield experience, earned working on some of the most challenging projects imaginable... and a few individuals for whom our business really is personal.

Laura Claxton

Laura Claxton
Managing Director

While we joke that many of our employees have Claxton in their blood, in Laura's case, it's true! As the daughter of the founder of the business, Laura grew up in Claxton and knows the company inside-out. An accomplished MD, Laura has led Claxton through many years of successful growth and remains directly involved in all aspects of the business. Laura's warm management style is self-evident in the way the company operates and deals with clients.

Technical Director

Dannie has vast oilfield experience with over 25 years in the industry. He provides the expertise and skill behind a great many of our products and innovations. Having worked within Claxton alongside his father since the early days of the company, Dannie has unparalleled understanding of the challenges our clients face and because of his experience, is often uniquely positioned to offer timely, cost-effective solutions. Dannie's innate ability to offer credible, workable, fast solutions is what the entire business strives for on every project.

Nick Marriott

Nick Marriott
Commercial Manager

Nick, being responsible for all sales and marketing activity, heads up the busy commercial team with Claxton - which he does with talent and an abundance of acerbic wit. An oilfield veteran, Nick has worked for Schlumberger, Weatherford and Sperry-Sun during his career. As a result, Nick has a deep understanding of the operating needs of our clients and is focused on ensuring our bids and proposals will really deliver the results they need.

Rowan Patterson

Rowan Patterson
Business Development Director

Rowan, having been with UWG since January 1995 has recently moved to Claxton. He has over 36 years' experience in the oil and gas industry and during that time he's worked in a number of senior technical and management roles for companies such as Weatherford, Vetco and Enterprise Oil. As Business Development Director, Rowan looks to advance the international profile of Claxton, secure opportunities in accordance with the business development plan and act as adviser to the company's business, technical and operational staff.

Nick Dale

Nick Dale
Base Manager: Dubai

Nick, joining Claxton from our parent company, Acteon, has experience cutting across our entire group - which includes operating companies across the spectrum of subsea services. His role at Claxton involves the management of our growing operations base in the Middle East - operating out of the Jebel Ali Freezone in Dubai. Having previously worked for 2H Offshore Engineering working on the design and analysis of deepwater riser systems and subsequently with Acteon Group Ltd as a business analyst, Nick is tasked with taking the responsive service Claxton is noted for and delivering it to clients throughout the Middle East region.

Chris Kyson

Chris Kyson
Project Engineering Team Leader

Chris leads our busy team of project engineers and has 18 years of industry experience. Having progressed from the drill floor through to service technician and into project engineering, Chris subsequently gained a level 3 City & Guilds in Fluid Power Engineering. As such, he knows his trade inside out. Whilst at Claxton, Chris has been key in progressing our industry-leading range of riser/conductor tensioning products and recently completed a 2 year subsea riser project for Maersk on time and under budget.

Bob Leggett

Bob Leggett
Senior Project Engineer, Centralisers

Bob is the driving force behind Claxton's massive experience in centralisers. One of many experienced oilfield engineers within Claxton, Bob has worked in the industry for 13 years, 11 of those within UWG before its integration with Claxton. While Bob has extensive experience of centralisers, he's also worked on our abrasive cutting systems, decommissioning services, and the manufacturing, control and running of drilling risers - he also holds an HNC in engineering and numerous oilfield qualifications.

Ann Vicens

Ann Vicens
Project Engineer

Ann, an Industrial Engineering graduate, has spent half a decade in the oilfield and much of that time has been spent applying her considerable talents for our clients. While working on multiple large projects - including the design, manufacture and installation of a fifteen-slot drilling template and numerous cement top-up systems - Ann has built an enviable set of skills. Ann is typical of our tightly-knit team of project engineers - experienced, skilled, passionate and responsive.

Mark Shaw

Mark Shaw
Financial Controller

Mark joined Claxton with a fascinating background - having worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers, he's applied his trade on a great many global accounts including Kellog's and Esso. He's also worked as a Financial Account in a direct marketing agency and for a freight business. Mark has a keen eye for detail and often assists departments right across the business.

Procurement Manager

Mark is a graduate of the Institute of Purchase and Supply - he brings a wealth of Procurement experience to Claxton. Mark's background has seen him working in various industries which include Oil and Gas, Automotive, Electronics and Emergency Home repairs. The strong negotiating and supplier sourcing skills that Mark brings to Claxton are an essential requirement in order to ensure that all of our suppliers meet the highest of standards and opperate in accordance to strict approval levels.
