History

Claxton, an Acteon company, provides engineering and services to the offshore jack up drilling community across the life of the asset from pre-drilling to drilling, production and decommissioning.

Founded in 1985, Claxton has grown significantly over the years in order to respond to our clients operating needs. However, throughout our growth, we’ve always asked ourselves three questions:

  • Are we giving the best, most responsive, service we can?
  • Is there a more cost effective and safe way of doing this?
  • Can we offer a better solution to the issues faced by clients?

In continually answering these questions, Claxton has built an enviable reputation and a robust suite of products and services that we’re truly proud of. These services include complete Riser systems (including all ancillary tooling), Riser tension rings and systems, well abandonment and cutting, slot recovery, subsea drilling templates and tieback engineering. Additionally we hold a full rental inventory – with many items available for rapid call-off.

In fact, rapid response is a hallmark of the value Claxton offers to customers – our ability to combine our large rental inventory with a fast-track design-analyse-build engineering service means we’re often uniquely placed to respond quickly.

In 1999 Claxton was one of a pair of companies which joined together and set the foundation for Acteon – now a fast-growing group of service companies with complementary skills and products, aligned to provide a fresh approach to subsea operations. During 2008, Claxton expanded through the integration of UWG’s respected product lines into the business – bringing with them a wealth of experience, talent and world-leading expertise in drilling templates, tieback engineering, cameras and structural centralisers. This joining of forces gave Claxton a platform we've subsequently to develop all of our products.

Claxton has been responsible for many industry innovations, including the now-standard positive grip tension ring and, more recently, work on world-first high pressure riser technology for Venture Production. This level of innovation has seen us win multiple awards for innovation, quality and service – including two Queen’s Awards and a prestigious Petroleum Institute Platinum Award for Innovation.

The content of this wesbite shows how those three simple questions have shaped a broad, deep product range for well systems, structures and pipelines and gained us a catalogue of services that we’re truly proud of.

We look forward to asking the same three questions of a solution to your own operating needs very soon.
